Wrong number gets woman arrested

COVINGTON -- A woman trying to set up a drug deal by phone got a really wrong number, St. Tammany Parish deputies said Monday.
Instead of reaching "Scooter," her drug dealer, she reached a sheriff's deputy on his cell phone, said James Hartman of the Sheriff's Office.
The deputy reported that the woman offered to trade him prescription drugs for crack cocaine, "The deputy assured her that he would fill in for Scooter," Hartman said.
When deputies met the woman they found her carrying six Hydrocodone pills, 25 Alprazolam and a prescription bottle bearing another person's name, Hartman said.
They booked Tara Smith, 32, 350 Emerald Forest Blvd., Apt. 9105, Covington, on possession of a Schedule II narcotic, possession of a Schedule IV narcotic and falsely representing a controlled dangerous substance.
"Narcotics Division investigators will attempt to identify 'Scooter' and see what he's been up to," Hartman said.
