Thanks, both of you, for putting my mind at rest. I was worried because someone was on TV saying that not only could Matthew Wright (or the channel he works for) get sued, but all the newspapers that've since named John Leslie. That's why the BBC and ITV won't name him, because in theory, John Leslie could sue them all, or something. To be honest, I have no idea of these things.

That's interesting about E.E.U libel laws. I didn't know about that. So, if the media in Britain are banned from reporting something, you're still free to write about it? I remember there was a case a while ago about two boys that killed Jamie Bulger. They were released a couple of years ago and given new identities. It said on the news that they're protected by law, and that the media weren't allowed to say anything of their whereabouts. Sorry, i'm just rambling on now.

As for Ulrika? I think both her and John Leslie have manipulated the media to some extent. He chose not to take out a court order, protecting him from being named. He thought he was safe from being named because of libel laws. She hasn't broken the law, though she was (unintenionally?) instrumental in his identity being 'outed.'
