It sounds as if Melanie Griffith is doing her best to keep every available female away from her husband. The 45-year-old blonde actress personally called one of Antonio Banderas's co-stars and warned her "sweetly" to stay clear of him.
X-Men star and former supermodel Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, 29, got the call from Mel before filming started on the movie Femme Fatale.
Our perfectly-placed source said: "It was the standard 'Melanie' phone call. She was very amiable but the message was clear - lay off my man. Rebecca couldn't understand why Mel was being so strange. They were only co-starring with each other, it wasn't as if they were immediately tangled up in a sordid affair."
As it turns out, Melanie had nothing to worry about. The married blonde actress fancied her female co-star, model Rie Rasmussen, more than swarthy Antonio.
So now Mel has warned off her younger and prettier competition, life goes on as usual for the Working Girl actress.
But judging by the photos and stories we have seen lately, we doubt whether things are plain sailing.
Time to get a life, Mel.
