Sophie Dahl, 23, once famed for her plus size, was yesterday unveiled as the new face of Scottish knitwear brand Pringle -- with a stunning new slimline figure .

“My size had become a public fixation. This isn't a fat or thin issue. It’s just about looking the best I can by being healthy and toned,” she said in a promo press junket. But she added: “The best thing is I’m back into my size 12 Dolce and Gabbana dress. I feel good and look good. I’m the way I want to be.

A Pringle spokesman said: "She exudes British glamour from every pore." The 1950s-style "Miss Argyle" adverts will be released in March.

Sophie credits her new look to fitness guru David Marshall, inventor of "the banana diet" (I swear I didn't invent this).

Yea thanks Sophie for not collapsing under the fashion industry's pressure to be an "acceptable" plus size model... which is what a size 10/12 (?) is considered... PLUS.

So glad Sophie hasn't sold out. Loser.

I tried responding to the previous response in this threat, but Antville is acting up again. Argh.

Anyhow, I don't think someone is necessarily selling out if they go from being a plus-size model to a smaller one. Maybe she really was trying to get in shape, and retained the same sort of career afterwards. I don't think there is any reason to attack someone for wanting to take better care of their bodies.

Not that I think she was particularly plus-sized in that other picture, mind you. Also, I think fad diets are creepy, creepy things. A banana diet sounds like what celiac disease sufferers had to live with thirty years ago (it was then believed bananas were the only thing people with celiac disease could eat. Can you imagine? Urk).

i had no idea sophie dahl was ever 'big'? wow... that is a total transformation... almost hard to believe...
