Supermodels Are Lonelier Than You Think!

Self irony is a good thing (a reminder)

Sports Illustrated had a special article about Women Tennis this week, and it surely was a good read: "Simonya Popova is hot. Smoking. . . . Strikingly attractive, her skin and hair colored by the sun. . . . Nearly 160 pounds of sinewy muscle. . . . Her midriff-baring outfits, so small they appear to come from Gap Kids, highlight her ample decolletage."
Pretty alluring -- and also a hoax, as readers learned in the final sentence of the 2,300-word piece: "If only she existed."
The Washington Post reports today the story (and doctored photo) is drawing a heavy volley of criticism from the Women's Tennis Association. They protest the heavy clichés. And I thought the main cliché to avoid is feminists don't have a sense of humour.

Most bizarre Royal story of the day

KATE MOSS AND MY FREDDIE? HE COULDN'T STAND HER .. SHE WAS FAR TOO FLAT-CHESTED
From The Mirror on Sunday
PRINCESS Michael of Kent has launched an astonishing attack on supermodel Kate Moss, criticising her for being flat-chested.
The Princess said that Kate, who was once linked with her son Lord Frederick Windsor, never stood a chance with him.
"She wasn't his type at all," she said. "He couldn't stand her - she was so flat-chested."
The pair were said to be an item after meeting at a photo shoot for the society magazine Tatler two years ago.
Freddie was pictured in eye shadow and a spiked dog collar draped all over Kate in a series of mock wedding shots for fashion label Burberry.
But Princess Michael, better known as Princess Pushy, says that claims of a romance were greatly exaggerated.
Her outburst came at the after-show party of a preview screening of Lighthouse Hill, a low-budget British romantic comedy starring Jason Flemyng.
The Princess, who spends much of her time lecturing about history in the United States, then confessed how she covets a career in television. "I really want to be the next David Attenborough of history television," she said. "I really think I can do it."
And not content with insulting Kate - who is soon to have journalist Jefferson Hack's baby - she then launched a tirade against TV historians. "Most of the people we have presenting programmes like this know their stuff but they are so ugly - they wear all these horrible clothes and look so unglamorous."
