Canadians still love to travel, survey shows

As much as we whine about our 62-cent dollar, Canadians aren’t letting its low value stop them from travelling this winter, according to a survey released yesterday.

A significant majority (73 per cent) told Ipsos-Reid pollsters they’ll be travelling during the holiday season, with 39 per cent expecting to be out of the country over that period.

Given a list of celebrities to choose from as a travel companion, 28 per cent of survey respondents picked comedian Jim Carrey, while 20 per cent wanted environmentalist David Suzuki along, 11 per cent picked former journalist and current consul general to New York Pamela Wallin, and 10 per cent chose Hockey Night in Canada broadcaster Ron MacLean.

[And now the strage part] Supermodel Linda Evangelista was at the bottom of the list, a preferred travel companion for only four per cent of survey respondents.

Beatrice Dalle, best known for her staring role in "Betty Blue", and her boyfriend, French rapper Joey Starr, were invited to a club opening in St Marten. When the PR photographers asked Starr to throw his girlfriend to the water for an photo-op, he complied, but Dalle is not a lady to be dropped easily. In mid-course, she spoke her mind (sort of), and the photographers suddenly had a much better picture. I've uploaded a bigger and slightly different pic here.
