Pals show healthy concern for Renee

Renee Zellweger looked to be in good spirits Tuesday at 'Chicago's' L.A. premiere, but friends are worried about her health.

Renee Zellweger is looking so frail these days, friends are said to be seriously worried about her health.
At the premiere party for her film "Chicago" at London's Cafe Royal last weekend, a source told us, "Her friend Elton John was practically trying to put an hors d'oeuvre in her mouth. He raised it to her lips and said, 'Come on, have something.' Elton and David Furnish were trying to cheer her up." But the actress still refused to eat, the source added.

London's Daily Mail reports that the star, who plays Roxie Hart in the film version of Bob Fosse's Broadway musical, "was staggering around the VIP lounge with David's phone and having a very animated conversation interspersed with hysterical giggling."

Things seemed to get worse later when, our source says, "She ran into the bathroom." According to London's Express, "Renee's people [were] gathered outside discussing whether or not to call an ambulance. It sounded serious." And a friend of the actress was overheard by The Express saying, "She hasn't eaten all day. She was being sick. We've got to get her home." About 30 minutes later, she was escorted from the party.

The actress, who looks so thin in "Chicago" she makes Catherine Zeta-Jones appear fleshy, looked slim but healthy at the movie's premiere in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night.

A rep for the Buena Vista film company said: "Renee wasn't sick [in London] as far as I am aware. If she was looking distressed, it would have been because she was absolutely exhausted."

Mystery still surrounds the exact situation of Karen Mulder. As I posted yesterday, neighbours found her in her apartment surrounded by sleeping pills and called an ambulance. Her ex-fiance, Jean Yves Le Fur, called the NY Post within the hour and told Page Six he was the one who took her to the American Hospital in Neuilly, following a suicide attempt.

But her parents, appearing virtually on every TV network here, claim that Karen checked herself into a French clinic on the advice of a psychiatrist after suffering from "delusia", a psychiatric condition ("A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness").

Both sides are not very reliable sources. Karen believes her father abused her in her childhood, which could be "delusia" syptoms, but then, also couldn't. Karen's mother tried to convince Dutch courts last year that her daughter is not able to take care of her financial matters, and to let her manage her daughter's bank accounts. Karen Mulder has more than 10 millions of euros in financial assets.

As for Jean Yves Le Fur (pic, above), an ex male model turned magazine publisher, he always used Karen for publicity purposes, and has done so even more since her condition deteriorated. According to a lawsuit, he ripped another ex-fiancee, fashion journalist Tiana Kiefer, from her magazine idea (DS). He later invested in Numero.

According to some sources here, the two versions do no collide: the appartment in which Karen Mulder was found could be Le Fur's home, on Avenue Montaigne. It is probable that after her stay in the hospital, Mulder checked in at a psychiatric clinic.
