Spruce - the end?

Time Warner has announced on PR Wire that SPRUCE, the Wallpaper spinoff about fashion and beauty, will resume next fall (October 2003). The spring 2003 issue has been suspended.
The laconic communique does not explain the decision. Complicating things even more, the company has announced that Wallpaper itself will change its formula, and would cover more travel, beauty and grooming. It isn't clear what would be Spruce's mandate in those conditions.
Started in 1996 by Tyler Brûlé and bought the following year by Time Warner, Wallpaper has built a circulation of about 130,000 copies. Jeremy Langmead, from London's Evening Standard, was named editor in chief of the magazine instead of Christina Ferrari, founding editor of Teen People.
