Le Parisien and Liberation both carry an item today about supermodels May Anderson and Devon Aoki being attacked by a gang near the Forum des Halles, one of Paris' most dangerous spots.
According to the reports, they were in a car with a TV crew and hip-hop impresario Damon Dash when the gang got first angry about the cameras, then excited about the girls.
It seems no formal complaint was filed. The attack took place last wednesday evening, and wasn't released until yesterday.
May Anderson was blasted with pepper spray, a popular war technique with young gangs in Paris. She was admitted to the Hotel Dieu hospital, near the Notre Dame, and released after two hours. Devon wasn't hurt in the attack.
Les Halles, in the center of Paris, has turned to a nasty neighborhood after the RER lines from dubious suburbs chose it ("Chatelet/Les Halles") as the terminal station. A lot of tourists are attacked in the area, which is very closed to the Pompidou Center. Readers of this humble weblog are advised to avoid the Chatelet station, where a lot of rapes are routinely reported.
