* Three-times divorced author Salman Rushdie and his exotic model girlfriend Padma Lakshmi have split up.
The couple separated just before Christmas, amid a flurry of rumours over who dumped who.
Rushie, 54, has insisted that he ended the relationship because the Indian-born model, who is more than 20 years his junior, was not "intellectually
challenging" enough for him.
But Miss Lakshmi, who shot to fame when she posed topless on the cover of her first publication, a cookery book, told friends that she became bored of dating the middle-aged author. (The Evening Standard)

* The five-year marriage of Hollywood hunk Jude Law and wife Sadie Frost was OVER last night.
Jude, 30, and actress Sadie, 37, have both called in divorce lawyers.
A friend said: “This is her worst nightmare. Sadie does not want to get divorced but Jude is adamant. He has spoken to lawyers and told them to get the ball rolling.
“She is trying to keep things going but Jude doesn’t seem to be interested. He has been telling friends he is not doing Sadie any favours by sticking around.”
Jude, 30, was seen yesterday WITHOUT his wedding ring on.
He instructed his legal team at the weekend amid reports that he is close to Nicole Kidman, his co-star in the movie Cold Mountain. (The Sun)

* On Saturday, despite the efforts of her best friend Kate Moss, a girls' night out failed to cheer up Sadie Frost, 37. In her first outing since her marriage problems and post-natal depression were first revealed three weeks ago, Sadie joined her party-loving pals at London night club, Tramp. But the queen of cool was a shadow of her former self.
A friend said: "While her mates knocked back champagne and vodka, Sadie just sipped a kir. She had a couple during the four hours she was at the club, but she certainly wasn't drunk.
"You could tell she was making an effort to be cheery, but seemed very distracted - as anyone would be in her current situation.
"Kate and the others are all doing everything they can for Sadie and are giving her their total support and are standing by her in all this. No one's taking sides, but it's only natural they're concerned for Sadie."

But the delicate, sexy shoes - exactly Nicole's size - were despatched by mistake to his wife Sadie Frost at their £2million family home in Primrose Hill, North London.
Apparently Sadie thought the shoes were a token of love and reconciliation after a series of arguments with Law - but then she discovered the note. Not long after, she was taken to hospital, having harmed herself. (The Evening Standard)

* MODEL Kate Moss has sparked marriage rumours by wearing a ring on the third finger of her left hand.
Passers-by spotted the ring as Kate, 29, went out with boyfriend Jefferson Hack and their four-month-old daughter Lila.
Kate and Lila sat in a cafe near their home in Primrose Hill, North London, while publisher Jefferson went to a bookies. An onlooker said: “She seemed very happy.”
