Mon, 21.10.2002, 19:02One for the ladies  A female reader asked me sarcastically why didn't I post yet the scandalous new ad from Tom Ford, if I'm so good at fashion news when they concern female models. Well, here is the proof this humble weblog is not afraid from nudity from both sides. Although the ad will be published only from October 24, this is an advance copy. You probably read the news reports about it. The ad features a reclining full-frontal nude male model. He's quite hairy, as required by the new shift in male beauty standards. The guy is former martial arts French champion Samuel de Cubber. The ad (right pic, above) will be published from Oct. 24 in a handful of fashion magazines, including the French edition of Vogue and the Italian one. It is the first time in the history of advertising that a major mainstream company shows a full-frontal nude as a standard ad. Ford said the M7 campaign was a homage to a now infamous picture of Saint Laurent posing naked -- though with his legs modestly crossed -- for the photographer Jeanloup Sieff in 1971. US magazines will carry a toned-down version showing de Cubber from the waist up (left pic). Update: November 2002 - More about de Cubber - here. Nice to see a real man like Samuel de Cubber. Mose American men are only half men because of CIRCUMCISION. This operation destroys about 50% of the function of the penis, on every man that it is done on. American men don't have the balls to stop it, but yet thay call themselves men.

Hey...he is a model who enjoys what he does. Give him a break. Let him enjoy his work of art. Most men do not like to model nude for the reasons some people have posted here. Enjoy it! I give him a lot of credit and respect for posing nude in a major magazine. Size doesn't matter..it's how you use it to make a women enjoy sex...and for those men out there...same thing. Not trying to discriminate here.

To tdcunning: according to the index finger/penis size positive correlation study noted on this very site a couple days ago, erect size is proportional to flaccid size. Now, I personally do not find this to be the case, but then, I may well be an outlier, the (statistical) exception who proves the rule...

I think it is amazing how many people, especially women, are pro this ad. I can only imagine a company using a women with her legs spread completely nude and what the reaction would then be. I think exploitation is exploitation regardless of the sex of the person appearing. This is tacky and gratuitous and has nothing to do with any kind of fragrence. Id rather see Travis with his underwear on any day of the week than have this man's genitals pushed in my face. Genitals, male or female, have nothing to do with this kind of advert.

Women already see models too numerous to mention showing every part of their bodies in both editorials and adverts ...need I mention Sisley for a starting point? So an advert showing a naked man is not only a welcome change, it also goes a little way to redressing the balance of sexual imagery...
I find Travis offensive. He looks like a woman from the neck up, and is portrayed as stupid, in some attempt to make up for his physical attributes. What kind of a message is that to send about men? ... link ... Comment

From a straight male. Ladies please accept the appology for having looked at female ads in the past. The table has been turned on the males now. You are now getting your first opportunity to complain about having to look a real men in ads. Remember that women have breasts as body appendages just like men have their genitals as appendages. God/Nature make us that way and we have to acept it....Like it or not. There are a few things that are important about this ad. First, note that it is being shown in women's magazines and not men's. Second, this is a French Model. Yes, this is a French product, but further more they had to go outside of America to easily find a 100% male body. You know that most American men are UNFORTUNATELY circumcised at birth, normally at the request of the mother. Yes cut my baby now...says this female. This was first perpertrated by the physicians. Now the American Pediatrics have admitted that it is not for health reason, but for cosmetic. Please read the new 2nd edition of SEX AS NATURE INTENEDED by the FEMALE author Kristen O'Hara. Read the review of this acclaimed book in The New York Times. Third, and last of my comments, please think of all the famous paintings and sculptures with the nude body. What about the Italian sculpture of DAVID. Full body, totally exposed to the entire world. And he is intact..."AS NATURE INTENDED". American men may not be 100% what you would like, but the REAL MAN would like M7. I was passed a sample of M7 last week in a major nationwide chain of Men's and Women's clothing stores and M7 is a good product. I would suggest you enjoy M7 even if you do not have a 100% real man...who knows, maybe you are lucky...be good to him and give him M-7. Thank you for your time.
