Tue, 22.10.2002, 13:38Site News My humble weblog is a little slow today, because my post about the upcoming nude ad for YSL was mentionned on heavy referrer sites. You might find some interest in the hundreds (!) of comments the female readers of fark.com had on the hairy model, here. And if someone ever tells you the stats about 10% of homosexuals are blown up, you can tell him from my part than more than 20% of the refered hits to the item come from gay forums. Hey, even the fucking NYT has a follow-up about the hair chest of de Cubber (free regis. needed, article here). According to Le Monde today, de Cubber, 25, is subject to hundreds of harrasment calls, most from women, some from homosexuals. If you're an hetero male reader that begins to feel unsecure with this sudden surge in male nudity, you can find back your balance in this amusing site. Update: I posted a bigger scan of the ad in December - Here is the post . ... Comment

Re: Site News
Well... I just read a few of the hundreds of comments. I can't believe people are so bothered because he hasn't been circumcised. Are people really so ignorant? Don't people realise that's how they're supposed to be? Not mutilated for the sake of... what? People are so prudish about foreskin and hair, and anything remotely natural.
Another thing, 'Sweater Girl' said: "Also, It should read 'Supermodels are more lonely than you think'" What?? ... Link

Re: Re: Site News
Most Americans are circumcised, not only the jews and the muslims, for reasons that are described as health concerns, so I suppose they were shocked to see the french model. I noticed also the strange remark about "lonelier". Is she right? English is not my mother tongue, but I thought my humble weblog's name is grammatically correct.
Either way, 36,201 hits in the last 24 hours... I definetely should post more pics of uncircumcised guys! ... link

Re: Re: Site News
I don't understand what these health concerns could be. I don't see how circumcision can be justified for either religious or 'cleanliness' reasons. Seems a bit sad that natural, un-cut seems alien to people, whereas cut doesn't. Also, there should be more pictures of naked men in the media, if only for educational purposes.
I won't say anymore on the subject of circumcision, in case I upset the entire circumcised American population. As for the 'lonelier' thing; I think "lonelier" sounds right, and "more lonely" sounds wrong. Maybe it depends on the context and whether there's a plural in there or not, but I don't think they can be more lonely. In my opinion, your grammar is right, whereas hers is not. ... link

Re: Re: Site News
Regarding circumcision and health: in 1981 Dr. Michael Gottlieb of UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California published the first report of what would later turn out to be AIDS. I was on the staff of that very hospital at the time, and so was understandably both interested and concerned. I have followed the epidemic quite closely over the past two decades. Although politically incorrect, repeated reports (I have the references on file) have demonstrated a strong, unmistakeable correlation between lack of circumcision and HIV positivity.
Regarding "lonelier v more lonely": speaking as the author of two published books, the current title of this site is both grammatically correct AND a stroke of genius, reading beautifully: more lonely, while also grammatically correct, is far more awkward. Here we see the genius of the artist in action: like Joseph Conrad, our founder Patrick, using English as an adopted second language, somehow intuitively strikes the right note. ... link ... Comment

That's rather amusing, but crappy that it's affecting the site. I like Fark. Funny stuff.

Re: Re: Site News
Americans are mostly circumsized because they don't know any better. It is a $1 billion dollar a year industry (weird huh). The AMA and pediatricians now are required to say it is an elective cosmetic surgery because it has no actual health value as proven many times over. www.nocirc.com has an extensive, although weird, history of such things.
