Supermodels Are Lonelier Than You Think!

Under my thumb

ELLE France has an interview with Elizabeth Jaegger, the new Lancôme girl, and all the clichés about celebrity-daughter-turned-model-or-actress-or-whatever are in.

Some quotes:
* "The press publishes only bullshit"
* "Besides Janelle, my best friend, all the models I know are stupid"
* "I don't have any Beatles record, are you out of your mind?"
* "I don't care what people think of me"
* "ELLE is my preferred magazine because it's for normal women"
* "I'm filming right now a short movie with an American director in NYC, his name escapes me right now but he's a genius".
And so on and on.

When the Lancôme PR girl tries to interfere, forget it, it gets really funny. The interview was arranged by Lancôme, who possibly payed for the pictures as well, but Jaegger keeps complaining about the cosmetics company.

The best thing in the article is indeed the portfolio, photographed by Brigitte Lacombe. A lot of editors liked Lacombe, but when the minimalist wave was over she suddenly disappeared a bit. She proves here in a series of close-up pics she still has it. I especially like the one above (I've uploaded a bigger version here), it's an homage to the classic Mick Jaegger portrait, and yet has a hint of the chic-porn wave.

Things you won't read in WWD

From The NY POST

At Woman's Wear Daily, in the Fairchild wing, media reporter Peter Braunstein was axed last Friday. Braunstein claims that it is because he stepped on someone's toes at Anna Wintour's Vogue, a Conde Nast publication.

Last week, Braunstein said he sought to get an extra ticket to the VH-1 Vogue fashion awards for his date. Vogue p.r. person Patrick O'Connell at first said he was unsure if he could get the ticket. Braunstein told O'Connell to forget about it. Shortly thereafter, O'Connell dug up an extra ticket and Bruanstein and date went to the show.

But the story doesn't end there. The next day, Braunstein's boss James Fallon, editor of WWD, sent an e-mail to Braunstein. According to Braunstein, the e-mail charged him with bullying and being abusive to the Vogue p.r. person. By Friday, Braunstein was fired - he claims because he stepped on the wrong toes at Vogue. He claimed that Women's Wear has a policy of going easier on Vogue than other magazines at Conde Nast.

Some Fairchild sources claim that the blowup was just the latest in a long series of clashes.

"It is strictly between WWD and Peter Braunstein. It has nothing to do with Vogue," said O'Connell.
