Not enough fashion? In Vogue??!

From The New York post
People are wondering how come the ace photographer Annie Leibovitz had to do a second sitting with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger for an upcoming cover story for Vogue.
One source said that Vogue editrix Anna Wintour did not like the first photos, shot as the two co-stars were wrapping up the movie "Chicago."
"It was too much in period, and Anna didn't like them," said a source. The film, set in the Windy City in the 1920s, casts the two actresses as murderers of their cheating lovers. "She didn't feel it was enough fashion for the cover of Vogue," said our source.
A Vogue spokesman insists that is not the case - even though the Vogue shutterbugs had a two-day shoot out with the stars in March.
"We knew when the shoot ended that we did not have a cover," the spokesman insisted.
Then why the four-month delay between the initial photo shoot and the second one for the cover in July? "The first one came just as the filming was winding down and then they both took off," said the spokesman. "The next time we could get them together was July," he said. "Since it was the November cover, it didn't matter."

Self irony is a good thing (a reminder)

Sports Illustrated had a special article about Women Tennis this week, and it surely was a good read: "Simonya Popova is hot. Smoking. . . . Strikingly attractive, her skin and hair colored by the sun. . . . Nearly 160 pounds of sinewy muscle. . . . Her midriff-baring outfits, so small they appear to come from Gap Kids, highlight her ample decolletage."
Pretty alluring -- and also a hoax, as readers learned in the final sentence of the 2,300-word piece: "If only she existed."
The Washington Post reports today the story (and doctored photo) is drawing a heavy volley of criticism from the Women's Tennis Association. They protest the heavy clichés. And I thought the main cliché to avoid is feminists don't have a sense of humour.
