Cameras were ready to roll last week for a video and DVD promoting Sports Illustrated's fabled swimsuit issue when it turned out supermodel Rachel Hunter hadn't brought any bathing suits with her to Coronado. Mid-January notwithstanding, an emergency run to a local Nordstrom – buttressed by an overnight shipment of bikinis from New York – filled the bill. Hunter introduces each segment of the promo, which features behind-the-lens highlights of the 2003 issue, due in newsstands next month.

The hottest property in the video/DVD (aside from Hunter, of course) is the Hotel del Coronado. Its landmark turret looms in every setting – behind Hunter on the tennis court . . . behind Hunter on the beach . . . behind Hunter on the hood of a silver Porsche owned by Michael Hardisty, the Del's managing director. Hardisty, a member of the local Porsche Club, wasn't a bit upset when Hunter perched on his cherished vehicle to deliver her commentary. "The car's value just went up," he told colleague Lauren Ash Donoho.

This humble weblog tries to stay humble, but still noticed that Associated Press distributed its report about Britney's double love life more than 12 hours after my own post based on the same sources.

Nobody could confirm this morning either report(or is it "neither report"? Associated Press scribes still have a better English), although tons of journos are on the story. Yet the paparazzi agency Splash! had this swell pic of the Pop princess, caught yesterday during a break from recording her next album in California -- she went out of her new Mercedes SL 500 just to buy an iced coffee to go (it's 34 degrees (Celsius) in California, while we're freezing here in Europe). It seems Britney's career today is essentialy wearing outfits that will make someone snap her picture.
